Mrs. Barbara Holderfield Bynum was born April 16, 1942, in Portsmouth, and she passed away peacefully at her Nassawadox home on June 14, 2025, from pancreatic cancer.

Bobbie attended Woodrow Wilson High School and Longwood College, then worked as a math teacher at Broadwater Academy and bookkeeper for T-F Grain and Northampton County Public Schools. She volunteered her time for NAM Hospital, the Northampton Free Library, and the Eastern Shore Garden Tour. Her favorite times were tending her beautiful gardens, reading, connecting with friends and family, collecting art, and traveling.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Wiggins Holderfield and Otis Holderfield; her husband, Bill Bynum; and her ex-husband Ed Gladstone, whose widow, Diane Gladstone, became a close friend.

She will be dearly missed by those still here — her sister, Linda Long and her husband, David Long; her son, Ned Gladstone and his wife, Therese Breinordh; her granddaughter, Lorelei Gladstone; her stepson, Win Bynum; and all whose lives were touched by her thoughtfulness, insight, and grace.

At Bobbie’s request, there will be no service or gathering. Thanks to her green thumb, flowers would be redundant, but donations to Broadwater Academy would be greatly appreciated.
