Ms. Gail Walker, 69, of Parksley, passed away on May 16, 2025, in Parksley.

Born on Dec. 17, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Louis Walker and the late Doris Ann Clark Walker. Gail grew up in Chincoteague and graduated from Old Dominion University.

Gail served the Eastern Shore as a social worker for Child Protective Services, helping numerous children and families over the years. A strong, humorous woman who was open-minded and kind, Gail enjoyed reading, traveling, eating out, and doing community service. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a board member for the Agape Christian Children’s Community Center.

Gail is survived by a sister, Shelley Jean Adams, of Parksley; her nephews, Randy Reed, of Rehoboth, Del., Scott Walker, and James Wayne Keech Jr., of Pinetown, N.C.; her nieces, Brenda Sue Keech, of Grimesland, N.C., and Mallorie Walker; and many close friends.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 22, at noon from Thornton Funeral Home with the Rev. John Woodburn and the Rev. Maury Enright officiating. A reception followed at Mallards in Onancock. The family received friends one hour prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to noon at Thornton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, 800 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23504 or the Agape Christian Children’s Community Center, 4605 Fleming Road, Horntown, VA 23395 — two charities that were dear to her heart.

Arrangements were by the Thornton Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Parksley.
