Mr. Carlisle Wesley Jones, 72, a resident of Melfa, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Born on Nov. 13, 1952, and raised in Pungoteague, Carlisle was the son of the late Irving Clifford Jones and Margie Christine Jones.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. He also worked at Perdue Farms in Accomac, at Doughty’s Market, and at Wallops in wastewater management, where he retired after 38 years.

He enjoyed many things, such as camping, fishing, and playing horseshoes and baseball. He enjoyed spending his Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR races and football games and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. His favorite thing in the world was spending time with his family. He always had time for his kids and grandkids, who loved their “Pop.”

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jones; his children, Carlisle W. “BOBO” Jones Jr. and wife, Hope, of Melfa, Jennifer Farlow Spahn, of Melfa, and Jeffrey Todd Farlow, of Belle Haven; his grandchildren, Carlisle W.  “Bubba” Jones III, Julia Brooke, Leighann Linton, Hannah Grace Fuller, and Anakin Todd Farlow; his siblings, Florence Linton and Gene Paige “Dinky” Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Pauline Bennett, Clifford Jones, Shirley Hart, Judy Jones, Harland Jones, and Henry Jones; and his previous wife, Julia Shelton Jones.

A graveside service was held Thursday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at Belle Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Johnathan Carpenter officiating. The family joined friends Wednesday, March 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Doughty Funeral Home.
