Truck crash closes Rt. 13

All northbound lanes of Route 13 were closed the morning of Friday, Feb. 21 from roughly 9 a.m. to noon due to a crash and an oil spill. 

The crash occurred near Brickhouse Lane, which is between Nassawadox and Exmore, according to  Virginia State Police. 

James Edward Jarvis Jr., of New Bern, N.C., was driving a 2005 Western Star Conventional tractor trailer and came up to quickly on a Ford Expedition, according to police. 

Jarvis ran the truck into the back of the Expedition. The driver of the Expedition suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries, police said. 

Jarvis was charged with following too closely and was released on a summons.
