Mr. John Wesley Runion, 64, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at his home in Mears. Born Aug. 3, 1960, Lakewood, N.J., and raised in Lakehurst, N.J., he was the son of Harriet Marie Runion, of Nelsonia, and the late Elsworth Runion Sr.
Like most Eastern Shoremen, John spent as much time as possible outdoors. He especially enjoyed exploring the back roads on his scooter or taking long bike rides. He was a skilled auto mechanic whose talents were known by many throughout his lifelong career.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his daughter, Jessica; his sisters, Harriet and Susan; his brother-in-law, Gary; his granddaughter, Brooke; and his special nephew, Shane, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Other than his father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Elsworth “Butch” Runion Jr. and Jimmy Runion, and his sister, Patricia Ann Henderson.
The family invites friends to join them for a gathering in celebration of his life at the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 2 until 4 p.m.
