Mr. William (Bill) Badger Whittington, 63, passed away Jan. 28, 2025, at Nassawadox Rehab and Nursing Home.

Bill was born and raised in Nassawadox to the late John J. and Mary Elizabeth Badger (Spooks) Whittington. He was one of the first residents of Dogwood View Apartments, living there for over 30 years.

He was well-known around town and loved riding his moped up and down the sidewalks and to his favorite job at Rayfield’s Pharmacy. He also enjoyed his work over the years at Captain’s Deck, E.L. Willis Restaurant, and Eastern Shore Rural Health.

Bill’s greatest joy was being a member of Redbank Baptist Church, where he served as an honorary deacon and greeter for many years. He was also self-appointed choir conductor from his front row seat. Bill never met a stranger, and it was well-known he loved women: His famous line was always, “Hey, toots, you are gorgeous!”

Survivors include his sisters, Suzanne Ames (Paige), Betsy Binswanger (Millard); a brother, Jay Whittington (Sharon); a special niece, Kelly Warren (Ty); and nephews, Tyler Ames (Gina), John Whittington (Kate), and Scott Whittington (Ellen); as well as countless cousins, devoted friends, and caregivers from all over the country.

A funeral service for Bill will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. John Robertson officiating at Redbank Baptist Church. Interment will be private at Redbank Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Redbank Baptist Church, P.O. Box 932, Nassawadox, VA 23413.
