Mrs. Margaret Sara Webb, also known as “Granny,” was born on Sept. 17, 1920, in Hadlock, to the late Oscar Baines Sr., and Margaret Sara Church Baines. She was called home to the Lord on Dec. 11, 2024, at 11:44 a.m. She was the last of 13 children, living to see 104 beautiful years.
Margaret received her education through the Northampton County Public School system. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and dedicated member until her health started to decline in her later years.
She was married to the late William Lee Webb Sr., and their union was blessed with six lovely children. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, William; two sons, Charlie T. Webb and Maurice Webb Sr.; one daughter, Lillie Mae Webb; four sisters; and eight brothers.
She spent most of her life working on the farm, and she also worked as an environmental services aide at Shore Memorial hospital in Nassawadox.
Margaret had a smile that could light up a room. She always had a positive attitude, and any problems she encountered, she always gave them to God and allowed him to handle the rest.
She took pride in her age and loved letting people know if they wanted to live a long healthy life like her they had to take care of themselves and keep God first and He would work it out.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and “Granny” to many that had the pleasure of knowing her. She enjoyed cooking, especially Sunday dinners, working outside in her garden, fishing, watching TV, listening to Gospel, and being around her family.
She leaves to cherish many memories three children, Deacon William Lee Webb Jr., of Weirwood, Patricia Satchell, of Nassawadox, and Becky Sample (Al), of Williamsburg; a stepdaughter, Linda Giddens (Gary), of Birdsnest; two daughters- in-law; Constance Webb, of Hampton and Martha Webb, of Exmore; a son-in-law, Alfredo Sample, of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 51 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
