Mr. W.R. “Bobby” Groton, 82, husband of the late Betty Farlow Groton and a resident of Painter, passed away on Oct. 1, 2024, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.
A native of Craddockville, he was the son of the late Lionel and Veta Guy Groton. He was a retired farmer and truck driver and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, a volunteer with the Painter Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Peninsula Tractor Club, and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, A. Joel Parks, of Painter; two sisters and a brother, Betty Belle Flowers, Rita Hope Kelley, and Guy Groton, and their families.
He was predeceased by a son, W. Rod Groton Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at Belle Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Charlene Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
