The voice of Accomack and Northampton counties on Virginia’s Eastern Shore

Bill Reynolds

Oct 7, 2024 | Obituaries

Following a hard battle with lung cancer, Mr. William S. Reynolds, lovingly known as Bill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Bill had a long and successful career with the U.S. Coast Guard; he retired as senior chief after proudly dedicating 27 years of service.

His love for country and service was surpassed only by his passion for life on the water.  His pride in living a waterman’s life began as a young boy living in Oyster.  He continuously worked alongside his father, where he learned his relentless work ethic and gained invaluable knowledge on the many fisheries in and around the Chesapeake Bay.

Bill was truly deserving of the title “Fish King;” he fished for work so he could fish for fun. He fished recreationally in countless places up and down the East Coast and took over 20 trips to the beautiful land and waters of Alaska, one of his favorite places on Earth. Bill may not have lived the longest life, but he truly lived every day to its fullest. The greatest lessons we could learn from his life are: help others when you can, tell people you love them, and lastly, take the trip.

Bill is survived by his sister, June Saunders, as well as his five children, Joshua Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Steven Reynolds, Stephanie Pugh, and Nathan Reynolds, along with six grandchildren.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Helen Reynolds, and his brother, Jeffrey Reynolds.

A celebration of life will be held on Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at 22027 Bellevue Lane, Cape Charles, VA 23310.
