On Tuesday, Sept. 17, Taylor Bank officials were joined by representatives from construction management firm Gillis Gilkerson, and the mayor of Cape Charles for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the commencement of construction of Taylor Bank’s newest branch, located at 645 Mason Ave. in Cape Charles.
The Cape Charles branch will be the bank’s 12th full-service branch location.
Located across from the Cape Charles harbor and just a few blocks from the Cape Charles beachfront, the new branch will be centrally located in the heart of the Cape Charles Main Street business district, catering to the community’s banking needs by offering both in-branch and digital solutions for personal and business customers.
“We’re proud of our commitment to serve local communities since 1890 and are thrilled to join the Cape Charles community,” said Raymond M. Thompson, president and CEO of Taylor Bank. “We look forward to continued success as we serve and support our valued customers in Cape Charles and the neighboring Northampton County, building strong relationships and supporting the community every step of the way.”
Taylor Bank’s Cape Charles branch will feature teller pods, a tech station, and a customer hospitality area, as well as two drive-up lanes, including one for a drive-up ATM for heightened customer convenience.
Construction of the bank will be overseen by Gillis Gilkerson Executive Consultant Dwight Miller and Superintendent Robert Meilhammer.
The bank is scheduled to be open to the public in 2025, with Shannon Satterwhite serving as the branch’s lending and business development officer and Lisa Lewis serving as branch manager.
“Gillis Gilkerson had the opportunity to construct Taylor Bank’s branch in Onley, Virginia, as well as several major renovation projects for its headquarters in Berlin, Md. and its branch in Chincoteague, Virginia,” said Gillis Gilkerson President Tyler Barnes. “We are thrilled to be a relied-upon construction partner as Taylor Bank continues to expand across the Delmarva peninsula. Gillis Gilkerson recognizes the impact this project will have on the local community and the contribution it will make to the advancement and prosperity of our region as a whole.”
