Mrs. Nancy Taylor Durham, 85, of Bloxom, wife of the late Garmon Lee Durham, passed away on Aug. 23, 2024 at home.
Born on April 30, 1939, in Bloxom, she was the daughter of the late Orville Taylor and the late Mary Grace Mears Taylor.
Nancy worked for over 30 years at the R&G Shirt Factory. She also worked with her husband on the water and then with her daughter, Patsy.
She was a dedicated member of Hallwood Baptist Church and enjoyed collecting antique glassware, gardening, and crocheting. Known for her bubbly personality, she was the peacekeeper of the family — a saint for putting up with and staying neutral between her five adored kids.
Nancy is survived by her children, Susan Gail Annis, of Greenbush, Janet Sharpe (Curtis), of Bloxom, Patsy English (Brent), of Bloxom, Michael Durham, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Eddie Durham (Linda), of Bloxom; her sister, Brenda Budd; a brother, Carroll Taylor (Connie); her grandchildren, Rachel (Billy), Michael Durham (Septemberlyn), Candace Salmon, Kyle Durham (Roxanne), Carrie Mendez (Joe), Donald Annis (Kristen), Christina Sharpe (Shane), Kimberly Hill (Colby), Tracey White (Lance), Kimberly Pryor (Earl “Squirrel”), and Brenna English (Brandon); her great-grandchildren, BJ, Savannah, Jeremiah, Tyler, Harper, Kylen, Cylei, Carlee, Ethan, Max, Alexis, Addison, Ensley, Cody, and Remi; and her special friends, Wendy and Faye.
Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Edward, Preston, Carroll and Stanford Taylor and Elaine Kimble; a granddaughter, Angie Johnson; her stepmother, Margaret Taylor; and a special friend, Margaret.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley with Pastor Danny Shrieves officiating. Interment followed in the Wessells Cemetery in Mears.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the Thornton Funeral Home.
