Mr. Kenneth T. Mears passed away on Aug. 12, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 51. Born Aug. 3, 1973, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, Ken led a life marked by kindness, a deep love for his family, and a courageous battle against cancer for 12 years.

Ken graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1996 and built a successful career as a manager at Schwab. He was a caring father and husband, dedicated to his family, which includes his wife of 27 years, Emily, and his two sons, Ranson and Ben, of whom he was immensely proud. Ken’s family circle also includes his parents, Bonnie and Wayne Mears; three sisters, Kimberly Mears, Kaz Webster (Glenn), and Kathy Brady (Jim); a nephew, Kurt Webster (Jaz); a niece, Melinda Webster, a great-nephew, Oliver; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who were as close as family.

Ken’s faith was a cornerstone of his existence, providing strength during his lengthy health struggles.

Ken was also a creative spirit who enjoyed building things like fences and treehouses, making lasting memories for his sons during their childhood. His passions extended to movies, TV shows, and football, and he was always ready to share his opinions and join in discussions.

The final days of Ken’s life were challenging, but his family finds solace in knowing he is free from pain. Ken’s life and legacy will be honored at a service at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen, VA, on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the importance of faith, which will continue to inspire those who knew him. Ken will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he touched.
