Mrs. Mary Addelia “Dee” Clark passed away on March 31, 2024, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
She was born to the late Helen Virginia (1919-1977) and the late George W. Sweeney (1917-1997) in Portsmouth on June 29, 1946. In 1964 she graduated from Maury High School and attended Louisburg College. In 1966 she married George S. Roberts. They welcomed two children; a son, Stephen W. Roberts, and a daughter, Leigh Ann Roberts.
Dee trained as a medical lab technician and worked for DePaul Hospital in the laboratory for 27 years. While working at DePaul, she met William E. “Bill” Clark, and on Sept. 10, 1989, they were married. In 2002 Dee and Bill moved to Melfa on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Dee was preceded in death by her husband, William Clark (1939-2017), and her daughter, Leigh Ann Blanchard (1969-2021).
She is survived by her son, Stephen W. Roberts; two brothers, Ernest L. Copley and wife, Happy Copley, and Richard C. Copley. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Amanda Roberts (Brandon Dalton) and Chelsea Fredrickson (Jarrod); and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brayden, Brianna, Bradley, Bryson, Brooklynn, and Brantley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. from the residence of 10145 East Pine Ave., Nassawadox, VA 23413. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
