Mrs. Wilma Jean Howard, former resident of Parksley, passed away quietly on May 9, 2024, in the home of her daughter in Drum Right, Okla., at the age of 95.
She was employed at the Parksley nursing home for over 20 years, where her heart was with the residents. She was often seen on Christmas Eve dressed as an elf visiting the patients and spreading cheer to all around. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and longtime member of the Accomac Elks Club.
She was predeceased by a son, Charles Edward Howard; a daughter, Janet Lynn Howard; and former husband, Edward James Howard.
She is survived by her son, James L. Howard and wife; daughters, Virginia Jane Suydam and husband, and Billye Jean Maddox and husband; grandchildren, Janet Howard, Samantha Pioli, Alicia Nibblet, Christopher Howard, and Virginia Austin and husband; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a short ceremony at Parksley Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, and a celebration of her life will be held at the Hallwood Methodist Church immediately following.
