CALL senior softball wins District 8 tourney

Central Accomack Little League won the District 8 senior softball championship. The Central Accomack Little League senior softball team won the District 8 tournament and will travel to Portsmouth to compete in the Virginia state tournament beginning on July 5.

C.A.L.L. began its all-star tournament at Azalea Little League with an 18-2 victory over Plaza Little League on June 22.

Kacey Ford went 3 for 3 at the plate, with two singles and a double, scoring three runs. Ryann Giddins tripled, scoring three runs, and Caitlyn McPherson doubled, scoring one run.

Cassidy Hickman and Carly Clayton both contributed a hit and scored a total of four runs. The team had a total of 11 hits.

Ford pitched four innings, with 10 strikeouts and only one walk, as she took the win for C.A.L.L.

The team earned another win the following day against Azalea, with the final score 19-1.

Ammirrah Church had two singles and a home run, which drove in five runs. Ford, Giddins, Clayton, and Hickman each had multiple hits, and the team had a total of 11 hits.

Giddins pitched three innings, with eight strikeouts, no hits, no runs, and earned the win for C.A.L.L.

The last game was played on June 25, when C.A.L.L. took home the District 8 championship in a 6-1 victory over Azalea. Giddins went 3 for 4 at the plate, with two singles and a double.

Ford homered to left field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Church, Clayton, McPherson, and Adrianna Holloway each contributed a hit, and the team had a total of eight hits.

C.A.L.L. also had a total of six stolen bases and turned a double play, which saved a run from scoring.

Clayton took the win for C.A.L.L., striking out nine, walking one, and allowing no runs through six innings.

Ramsey Revelle appeared in relief, striking out one of the four batters she faced.
