CALL 50/70 baseballers win District 8

Central Accomack Little League won the District 8 intermediate 50/70 baseball championship. The Central Accomack Little League 50/70 baseball team won the District 8 all-star tournament. The team leaves for Alexandria on July 5 to compete in the state tournament.

C.A.L.L. began the District 8 tournament at Princess Anne Little League on June 15, facing Virginia Beach Little League and winning, 15-5.

Alex Bundick went 3 for 4 at the plate with a triple, and Karter Stanley went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double.

Benjamin Bonniwell, Johnathan Young, and Brody Hall collected multiple hits, and the team had a total of 16 hits.

The next game was on June 17. Central Accomack defeated Fleet Park 6-2 in extra innings.

Clayton Luck and Bundick each had a double, as well as another hit, and Orion Loredo and Bonniwell each collected key hits. The team was down 2-1 in the seventh inning, scored one run to tie and force extra innings, and scored four more runs in the eighth inning to win the game.

The final game was played on June 20 against Fleet Park, and C.A.L.L. took home the District 8 championship in a 4-2 win.

Bundick and Young each collected two hits, while Hall, Stanley, Luck, and Caiden Hoffman all contributed a hit.

During the tournament, Hall pitched a total of 12 innings, with 22 strikeouts and a 1.75 ERA. Young pitched a total of 7.1 innings, with 20 strikeouts and a 0.95 ERA.

A bingo fundraiser was held on June 27 at the Chincoteague Community Center, and all proceeds went to the intermediate 50/70 players and their coaches heading to states.
