Mrs. Nancy Burton Davis, 79, of Henrico, formerly of Chincoteague Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. A lifelong “Teaguer,” Nancy moved to Henrico in 2018 to be closer to her family.

Nancy loved her family, and her granddaughter was the absolute apple of her eye. She worked in the hotel/restaurant industry for many years and enjoyed meeting new people.

An accomplished, self-taught cook, she excelled at seafood dishes and read cookbooks as if they were novels. She enjoyed teaching herself French and Italian cooking. She was also fascinated with British, Irish, and French culture, crocheting, and cats. She had many cats over the years … many.

Nancy is survived by her only son, David L. Davis, and daughter-in-law, Iffet Davis, of Henrico; her only granddaughter, Eleanor A. Davis, of Henrico; former daughter-in-law, Beth Miksovic, of Glen Allen; aunts, Mary Boundy, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sally Black, of Chincoteague Island; nieces, Leah Burton and Candace Carpenter, of Naples, Fla.; brother, Kenneth Burton (Mary Jane), also of Naples; several cousins; and her dearest friends, Rebecca Tatum and Joshua Jacobson, both of Chincoteague Island.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, David L. Davis; her cherished in-laws, David V. and Eleanor E. Davis; her parents, Leonard L. and Norma W. Burton, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A funeral service was held on Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Ave., Richmond, VA. A reception followed the service in the fellowship hall. A second service will be held on Chincoteague Island at a later time.
