Mr. Charles Elton Murphy, 79, of Arrington, passed from grace to glory on May 26, 2024. In the comfort and solace of his home, Charlie found rest from his long struggle with multiple chronic conditions.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Myrtle and Elton Murphy, and his brother-in-law, Robert Tuck.
He is survived by his wife, Pettis Bowling; daughter, Kimberly Hedge and her husband, Tom; sister, Patricia Tuck; brother, Allan Murphy and his wife, Connie; and brother-in-law, Paul George and his partner, Teresa. Also surviving to cherish Charlie’s memory are his parents-in-law, Steve and Betty Bowling; sister-in-law, Brenda Bowling and husband, Marc Raskin; and devoted caregiver, Barbara Tyree. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews share remembrances of Charlie as well.
A celebration of life service was held Thursday, June 6, at 1 p.m. Family and friends gathered at Calvary Baptist Church, 8408 Thomas Nelson Highway, Lovingston, VA. Family received friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
