Mrs. Patricia Ann McKlusky, daughter of the late Garland and Nell Spencer, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2024, in Venice, Fla., at the age of 91. She was born on March 7, 1933, in Cape Charles.

Patty was an excellent seamstress. She created and made costumes for local community theaters and mended and altered clothes for hundreds of people up and down the Eastern Shore. The relationships she made during those years were a source of pleasure for her and she treasured them.

Patty was also known for her love of baking and cooking, which she shared generously with family, friends, and neighbors as well as the community. She adored her cat, Maggie, her porch flowers, and engaging in friendly conversations with passersby from her front porch. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Emanuel Episcopal Church in Cape Charles.

Patricia is survived by her daughter Cindy McKlusky, of Venice, Fla.; her grandson, Alex Jones, of Dover, Del., who loved his “Utter Ma;” her brother-in-law, Walter McKlusky, and his wife, Joyce, of Staten Island, N.Y.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Martin J. McKlusky; her son, John McKlusky; her sister, Barbara Richardson; and her brother-in-law, William.

A memorial service will be held graveside Wednesday, May 22, at 1 p.m. at Cape Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Conrow officiating. Following the graveside service, a celebration of life will take place at Trinity United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 109 Plum Street, Cape Charles, VA 23310. A special thank-you goes out to Nilda Clark, her friend and caretaker, for her kindness and wonderful care, as well as the Venice Florida Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor should be directed to the Cape Charles Christian School, P.O. Box 30, Cape Charles, VA 23310 and/or Emmanuel Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 601, Cape Charles, VA 23310.

Patty’s passion for people, sewing, baking, and cooking brought joy to many, and her warm presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
