Mrs. Audrey Silverthorne Holland, 99, of Greenbackville, passed away on April 1, 2024. Born at home in Sign Post on Nov. 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Russell Silverthorne Sr. and the late Enola Disharoon Silverthorne.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband, Franklin Allen Holland, for 76 years on their farm.

She was an active member of Beaver Dam Presbyterian Church for 58 years and loved the church and all the people there. She served as a Sunday school teacher for the junior high class for many years and was the Sunday School superintendent for 30 years. She was also the past president of the Willing Workers and an elder. She had a deep devotion for her God and also served in the Christian Woman’s Club, where she was a prayer advisor.

She loved her beautiful flowers and was a member of the Garden Club, but her greatest love was for her family. In school, she was active in sports, especially softball and basketball.

Audrey never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. She always said she loved the beauty of the world, which God had created.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Diana Holland McAllister Young, of Pocomoke City; two sons, James Franklin Holland, of New Church, and Dale Allen Holland and his wife, Sandra, of Greenbackville; eight grandchildren, Mike McAllister (Patrick), of Greenbackville, Danna Czesak (Mark), of Wilmington, N.C., Brian McAllister (Katherine), of Bishopville, Md., Shana H. Farlow (John), of Stockton, Md., Richard Holland (Anna), of Stockton, Md., Jennifer Holland, of Pocomoke City, Andrew Holland, of Stockton, and Nathan Holland, of Stockton; 10 great-grandchildren, Keegan, Kailyn, Cayman, Hailey, Riley, Kai, Chase, Brendan, Addyson, and Liam; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and seven special caregivers; Peggy, Marcie, Teresa, Lezah, Tess, Denise, and Rose. Audrey loved you all so much and the family thanks you for your love and special care.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Silverthorne Taylor; her brother, Benjamin Russell Silverthorne Jr.; two sons-in-law, Bill McAllister and Paul Young; two daughters-in-law, Susan Holland and Barbara Holland; five sisters-in-law, Una Holland, Dorothy Holland, Nina Silverthorne, Mariam Holland, and Gladys Holland; and four brothers-in-law, Harry Holland, William Holland, Marian Holland, and Everette Holland.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April, 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Beaver Dam Christian Church, 345 Makemie Road, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. Friends and family will gather at the church one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Lance Ness will officiate.
