Jackets triumphant in return to diamond

After a year-long hiatus, the Northampton Yellow Jackets varsity baseball team made a triumphant return to the field on Friday, March 15, securing an 11-8 victory against Charles City.

Tanner Feltes emerged as a standout player, leading the team in batting, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Additionally, Brock Leland, Corbin Etheridge, Porter Spence, Lucas Kindt, Masen Bell, and Elijah McCaskill contributed with base hits.

On the mound, freshman Brayden Downing stepped up in relief for 3.1 innings. Downing’s poise under pressure was evident, as he conceded only one hit while striking out five batters, ultimately earning the  win for the Yellow Jackets.

Leland secured the Yellow Jackets’ victory by pitching a flawless inning and striking out two opposing batters to get the save.

The return of the Northampton Yellow Jackets varsity baseball team highlights the resilience and dedication of its players and coaching staff.

As the season progresses, the Yellow Jackets hope to build upon this early success.
