Mrs. Shirley Spruill Mabalot, 86, of Norfolk, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2024, with her sons by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayden and Janie Spruill; sister, Imogen Adcock; and husband of 52 years, Benedicto Mabalot.
Shirley is survived and cherished by her two sons, Benjamin and wife, Julie, and Mark and wife, Gia; two sisters, Joyce and Odell; grandchildren, Jacki, Matthew, Rebecca, Alex, Hayden, McKenzie, and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Maverick, Adelee, Finn, Rylee, Jackson, Connor, and Alayna.
Shirley retired after 30 years of service with AT&T and had equally as many years to spend with family and friends during retirement. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother who will be sorely missed. Shirley was always known as “Grammy” to her grandchildren and deeply loved by all of them.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
