Mrs. Stephanie Louise Dieumegarde, 61, wife of Richard D. “Rick” Dieumegarde and a resident of Horsey, formerly of Buford, Ga., passed away at her home on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024. Born Jan. 29, 1962, in Williamsburg, she was the only child of Kenneth Paul Adams and Marjorie Maddox Adams of Oxford, Ga.

Having been raised in a military family, Stephanie relocated throughout her childhood. Upon her father’s retirement, the family made their home in Georgia, where Stephanie quickly acclimated to civilian lifestyle. Following high school, Stephanie earned both her undergraduate degree and master’s degree in education from the University of Georgia.

She found her passion in elementary education and taught second grade for 29 years. Stephanie was a devoted member of Covington First United Methodist Church for many years, a proud Georgia Bulldog fan, and was well known for her beautifully crafted afghans that she generously donated to those in need.

Upon relocating to the Eastern Shore of Virginia to be closer to her husband’s family, Stephanie became a member of the Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company. Over the last few years, she and Rick have been grateful for their Station 4 family and for the opportunity to give back to their community.

In addition to her husband of 35 years and her parents, Stephanie is survived by her stepson, Richard Lee Dieumegarde and his children, Richard Lee Dieumegarde Jr. and Tiffany Marine Giannowz, and her furbaby, Daizy.

A service to celebrate Stephanie’s life will be held at the Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 207, Atlantic, VA 23303.
