Hacksneck fire claims life of woman

A house fire on Sunday, Feb. 4, claimed the life of a Hacksneck woman.

Melinda Jean Bonniwell was fatally injured in the blaze, said two people familiar with the incident.

Her identity was not immediately released by first responders.

Bonniwell was 56, public records show.

The home in the 12000 block of Hacksneck Road burned to the ground.

Units and personnel from Melfa, Painter, Onancock, Wachapreague, Exmore, Tasley, and Parksley responded to the 1:58 p.m. alarm.
