Mr. Bruce Carroll Mathews, 55, husband of Julie Clayton Mathews and a resident of Wachapreague, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock. A native of Keller, he was the son of Anne Cropper Mathews, of Wachapreague, and the late Bruce G. Mathews. He was a maintenance groundskeeper for Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club and a Methodist.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two sons, Aaron Lee Mathews and his wife, Sabrena, of Virginia Beach; and Bruce David Mathews, of Keller; and a sister, Michelle M. Hart and her husband, Tommy, of Atlantic.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Powelton Presbyterian Church with Vernon Bell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA Eastern Shore Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
