Mr. Chavez Alexander Holden, 32, affectionately known as “Chad” or “Vipe,” was the beloved son of Patrick D. Holden and Terry L. Leggett. He was born on Friday, April 19, 1991, in Salisbury, Md., at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He departed this life on Sunday, Sept.17, 2023, in Suffolk.

Chavez was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. After graduating from Arcadia High School in 2009, he attended Norfolk State University briefly before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2010. After receiving an honorable discharge, Chad held a plethora of high profile government jobs before becoming an aerospace engineering technician at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Chad accepted Christ into his life at a young age and was a member of St. John Independent Church in Messongo.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from St. John’s U.M. Church, Atlantic, with Bishop E. Michael Miller officiating.  Interment was in the Groton Community Cemetery, Messongo.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his father, Patrick Holden; mother, Terry Leggett; sons, Jayden Holden and Carter Holden; daughters, Airyn Holden Evans and Jaida Holden; sister, Jasmin Jones; brothers, Saquan Marshall and Tyshawn Marshall; maternal grandmother, Janice Murphy; special cousin who was like a brother, Ryan Justice; the T/G brotherhood; and a host of aunts, uncles, sister-cousins, brother-cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very close friends.

Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
