Mr. Robert “Bobby” Lee Chesser, 81, of Chincoteague Island, passed away on  Sept. 2, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Hallwood, on Sept. 8, 1941, to the late Charlie and Agnes (McCready) Chesser. Robert is survived by his loving spouse, Etta Whealton Chesser of Chincoteague Island; son, Chad Chesser and his wife, Louise, of Chincoteague Island; daughter, Cheryl Chesser, of Salisbury, Md.; daughter, Denise Hopkins and her husband, Sherrill, of Pocomoke City, Md.; son, Mark Gaskins of Wallops Island; six grandchildren, Cole, Kristen, and Kelsey Chesser, and Nick, Andy, and Laura Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert worked in the automotive service business and was an employee of Midway GM in Pocomoke City for almost 40 years. He loved to share his knowledge with the newer technicians and enjoyed watching them succeed in the industry.

He was a great teacher and member of the Masonic lodge on the island. He was in many different bands most of his life, and his passion for playing music led him and Etta to music ministry, where they shared their faith and talents with others. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Chesser and Linwood Chesser, and four sisters, Della Mae Denton, Marlene Taylor, Shirley Taylor, and Peggy Gutherie.

Funeral services were held graveside on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at 2 p.m.  at  John Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville, with Pastor Donnie Bailey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences can be given at www.salyerfh.com
