Mr. Louis Thomas Birch Jr., 81, also known as Tommy to his friends and family in Virginia and Lou to everyone in South Carolina, passed away Aug. 23, 2023.
A native of Chincoteague, son of the late Louis Thomas and Jean Elizabeth Savage Birch, he was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield for 34 years, retired from Geico in 2009, and was a member of Springwell Church.
Mr. Birch had several different passions and hobbies which included boating, duck hunting, target shooting, flying small planes, and riding motorcycles, as well as traveling and seeing different parts of the world.
Surviving are his wife, Betsy Simmers Birch of the home; a son, Craig Thomas Birch (wife Kelli), of Port Orange, Fla.; a granddaughter, Bailey Marie Birch; and a sister, Susan Smith, of Chincoteague.
