Mrs. Sandra L. Slater, 62, died unexpectedly on Aug. 10, 2023, in Horntown. She was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Slater, her mother, Connie Slater, and her sister, Mindy Slater.
She is survived by her loving husband, Timothy Vancosky and children, Addie Carey and Nathan Carter.
Born in Scranton, Pa., Sandy pursued her education at the University of Scranton, where she earned a master’s degree in accounting. Sandy went on to own several Jackson Hewitt tax services, which she ran for 23 years.
Sandy was a loving and caring person who never knew a stranger. Sandy was a true believer in God and prayed every day for her loved ones. She will be truly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know her.
There was a celebration of life Saturday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. at Salyer Funeral Home, Chincoteague Island. Services were entrusted to Salyer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
