Mrs. Ruth Spady Smith, “Nana,” 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, in her home surrounded by family. A native of the Eastern Shore, she was the daughter of the late William and Maude Spady.
She retired from the college as a registered nurse and took on the role of full-time nana.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Olgers, of Richmond; two granddaughters, Jennifer Marie Olgers-Holzknecht (Sabrina) and Jessica Carole Olgers, both of Richmond; and a soon-to-be-born great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at noon at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore, with the Rev. Dr. John M. Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery.
