The Eastern Shore Playaz youth basketball league was invited to send teams to a national tournament in Las Vegas. Two teams from the league competed and went undefeated.

“We really didn’t think it was feasible,” said Nicki Hemby, wife of coach Darryl Hemby and one of the league organizers.

But the league held fundraisers to make the trip, including organizing a basketball clinic for young players.

In addition to winning every game they played, the teams enjoyed some recreation, including hiking in the mountains and other experiences.

“It was an amazing experience for the boys,” said Nicki Hemby. “The boys had a lot of fun.”

Coaches included Darryl Hemby, Marvin Johnson, Eric Spady, and Justin Smith.

Players on the 13 and younger team include Trevon Hill, Daquais Harmon, Adrian Mills, Ian Queen, Amire Bailey, Jasheem Collins, and Malik Faison.

Players on the 17 and younger team include Braden Justice, Elijah Miller, Malik Battle, Nyzir Dix, Ronyell Coston, Tywone Sebastian, Mekhi Spady, Ronrico Bugg, and Jaylen Anderson.
