Mrs. Valorie Denise Lockehart, 59, beloved daughter of the late Grace and Arthur Booze Sr., was born on Dec. 10, 1963, in Tokyo, Japan. She departed this life on July 10, 2023, at UNC Health Johnston in Clayton, N.C.
“Val,” as she was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. She was a graduate of Central High School in Painter. In later years, Val relocated to Raleigh, N.C. There she gained employment with the City of Raleigh. She was an administrator for the city until her early retirement.
Val was united in holy matrimony to Edward Lee Lockehart Jr. Their union was blessed with 15 beautiful years.
Val was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Raleigh, N.C.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from St. Paul AME Church, Raleigh, N.C., with the Rev. Dr. Larry McDonald officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, N.C.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband, Edward Lee Lockehart Jr.; children, Keyonte’ J. Custis, Ronnetra Owens, Lynnesa Washington, and Javonta Lykes; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Debra Lyons, Yolanda Booze, Glenyss Nock, and Glenda Moore; one brother, Arthur Booze Jr.; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
