Mr. Theodore Arlin Russell, 92, of Chincoteague Island, passed away on July 8, 2023, at his home on Chincoteague. He was born to the late Theodore Russell and the late Margaret Lois Scott on July 7, 1931, in Camden, N.J. Theodore (known to many as ‘Ted’) worked for N.J. Bell/Verizon for 37 years.

He was a member of the Island Baptist Church, where he was a trustee as well as a choir member. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Ted enjoyed fishing, carving, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Shirley H.; two daughters, Debra (Steve) Boles, of Madison, N.C., and Donna (Robert) Menta, of Berlin, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Ben) Rafferty, of Greensboro, N.C., Anthony (Nicole) Menta, of Laurel, Del., Michael Menta, of Williamstown, N.J.,  Danielle (Brandon) Vargas, of Cherry Hill, N.J., Christian Kelshaw, of Madison, N.C., Matthew (Joseidy) Kelshaw, of Madison, N.C., and Ashleigh (Jeremy) Clifton, of Greensboro, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; Kendra Menta, Dominic Menta, Kingston Vargas, Kellen Rafferty, Theodore Rafferty, Natalia Rafferty, and Jonathan Clifton.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at the Island Baptist Church on Chincoteague Island, with the Rev. Benicoff officiating.
