Mrs. Joanne Wise, 75, of Pocomoke City, Md., passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
Born on July 21, 1947, in Carbon County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Helen Hansbury.
Professionally, Joanne served as a clerk with Worcester County Liquor Board for 11 years.
She attended Goodwill Baptist Church.
Joanne is survived by her children, Charles Joseph Matthews and wife, Susan, and Cowanda Matthews; grandsons, Kelly, Charles Jr., and Joshua; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Hewett (Harris); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, A. Eugene “Gene” Wise; her daughter, Barbara Jo Roach; and sister, Gloria Jean Burns and stepfathers, George Martin and Millard Hansbury.
Services will be private. The final resting place will be at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City, Md.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goodwill Baptist Church 3824 Stockton Road, Pocomoke City, MD, 21851, a local SPCA, and/or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
