Mrs. Ovie Taylor Williams, 85, was born on July 18, 1937, in Assawoman, to the late Commie and Everdena Wharton Taylor. She departed this life on May 15, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Ovie received her education in the public schools of Accomack County. In later years, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in cosmetology. She began working as a beautician and dedicated over 50 years to her career. Ovie was also a dedicated volunteer with the Oak Hall Ambulance and EMT services for 38 years. She also drove the school bus and was a substitute teacher for Accomack County for over 30 years.

On Dec. 7, 1957, Ovie married Arele “Toby” Williams; they shared 65 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Marshall.

Ovie was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Atlantic.  In earlier years, she sang in the choir.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from Shiloh Baptist Church, Atlantic, with the Rev. Dr. Harvey Davis Sr., officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Left to cherish her loving memories are her husband of 65 years, Arele “Toby” Williams; daughter, Marshall Fauntleroy; grandson, Alton Donichele Conner; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hudgins and Juanita Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
