Mr. Charles Vance Wessells, husband of Mitzi Theresa Wessells, a resident of Dundalk, Md., and a native of Accomack County, died April 4, 2023. He was 81.
Born July 14, 1941, in Guilford, Wessells served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He later worked for Johns Hopkins University’s marine division as a boat operator. He retired as a tugboat captain.
He enjoyed fishing. Wessells also was an adept handyman. While living in Maryland, he always maintained a home in Guilford.
Wessells was predeceased by his parents, Alma and Bud Wessells, and a brother.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces.
Wessells donated his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board. A celebration of life will be held at a later date by the family.
Memorial donations in Wessells’ name can be made to local animal shelters.
