Mr. Derrick Williams, 55, of Atlantic, departed this life on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Waterside Health & Rehabilitation Center in Norfolk.

Born in Atlantic, Derrick was the beloved son of Harrison and Deborah Savage. He was affectionately known as “Plook” by his family.

Derrick spent most of his childhood life in Petersburg, Va., at the Southside Virginia Training Center. In 2012, Derrick relocated to an adult group home.

Derrick was baptized into Christian faith on January 8, 2018, at Sentara Princess Ann Hospital in Virginia Beach. He was not able to attend church like you and I, but there was not any doubt that he knew who God was. Mom and Aunt Nancy made sure he was well-rooted in the word whenever they would visit him. Heaven has truly gained an angel.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from St. John’s U.M. Church Cemetery in Atlantic, with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Deborah Savage; brothers, Harrison James Savage Jr. and Garrett Dickerson; one adopted sister, Amiyah Watson; four nephews; aunts, Nancy Davis, Evelena Carter, Joyce Mason, Diane Williams, Leona Parker, Audrey Perdue, Darlene Savage, and Alice Laws; uncles, Darnell Watson and Tommy Watson; great-uncle, Leonard Harmon; special cousin, Tykisha Matthews; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins,  and other relatives.

Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co. in Accomac.
