Mrs. Mary Frances Nock, 82, of Bloxom, departed this life on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

Born in Temperanceville, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late James I. and Hattie Broughton.

Mary received her education in the public schools of Accomack County. She was converted, baptized, and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Temperanceville at a young age.

On June 22, 1957, Mary married Ralph E. Nock. From this union, they had two sons and four daughters.

After Mary’s union to Ralph, she joined First Baptist Church in Mappsville. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Cornell Hearn Memorial Choir, and a deaconess.

Mary was employed at R&G shirt factory in Parksley for 25 years before retiring and becoming a housewife.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Mappsville, with the Rev. Fred Crawley officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Sebastian E. Nock, Joyce N. Tatem, Deborah Woolford, Shirleen A. Harmon, and Sanfara N. Christian; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Tatem and Evangeline Hickman; one brother, Robert Broughton; one brother-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
