Mrs. Hazel Nedab Heath of Parksley, 75 days before her 100th birthday, slipped peacefully away to rest from her labor and receive her reward.

Born in Daugherty, she was the beloved daughter of the late Helen and William Nedab.  She was affectionately known as “Aunt Hazel” by her family and friends.

Hazel was educated in the segregated schools of Accomack County, Va. She then enrolled in cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician, giving her the ability to make a living wherever she and her family lived.

As an entrepreneur, astute manager of money, and the owner of Hazel’s Beauty Salon, Hazel enjoyed a life with the full professional and social benefits of running a beauty salon.   

Hazel was a lifelong member of the church serving as an usher, member of the Willing Workers Club, and the Missionary Society.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Onancock, with the Rev. Richard L. Greene officiating.  Interment was in the Wharton Cemetery, Parksley.

Left to cherish her memory are three nieces, Mary Laretta Harmon, Daphne McClary, and Coretta “April” Griffiths; one nephew, LeCounte Nedab Sr.; one special great-niece, Marie C. Billie, and a host of great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and friends.

Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
