Mrs. Evangela H. Lewis, 55, of Portsmouth, Va., formerly of the Shore, departed this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at her residence.

Born in Lewes, Del., Evangela was the beloved daughter of Warren and Gloria Fletcher Sr.  She was affectionately known as “Moody” by her family and friends.

Moody was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools and was a graduate of Arcadia High School.  After graduation, she played softball with the Rejects. Moody was also a member of the Platinum Knights MC, where she was known as “Star.”

In later years, Moody moved to Portsmouth and enrolled in Central College, where she earned a certificate in Medical Assistant/Billing and Coding. She was a manager for a medical office in Portsmouth.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wardtown, with the Rev. Milton P. Bunting officiating.  Interment was in the church cemetery.

Moody leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Gloria Fletcher; daughter, Renasha Handy; son, Jamar Davis; sister, Phyllis Smith; brother, Warren Fletcher Jr.; three aunts, Georgianna Sturgis, Farris Mae Strand, and Rev. Grace Nelson; ten grandchildren; three nephews; seven nieces; two sisters-in-law, Evette Handy and Marcella Drummond; brother-in-law, George Handy; first husband, Reginald Handy Sr.; and a host of other relatives and close friends.

 Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
