It is with great sadness that we announce that Mrs. Jeannette Killmon Powell passed away on March 4, 2023. She was 94.
She was born and grew up on the family farm in Jenkins Bridge, Va.
Jeannette and her husband, Bill Powell, began their married life in Pocomoke City, Md., before moving to Cape Charles, where they spent some of their happiest years, raising their children, Debbie, Bill, and Julie.
While living in Onancock, and then Chincoteague, they made many dear friends before the family settled in Laurel, Del. There Jeannette was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and playing bridge.
She worked many jobs in her lifetime, but most of all was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Vivian Killmon; her brother, Milton Killmon; her sister, Audrey Byrd, as well as by her husband Bill Powell Sr., and her son, Bill Powell Jr.
She is survived by daughters, Debby Mandycz and daughter and son-in-law Julie and Jesse Plummer, three grandchildren, Bill Mandycz and Katie Donaldson, and three great-grandchildren, Ella, Amelia, and Nathan.
Memorial Services will be on Saturday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church, 805 Atlanta Rd, Seaford, DE. Burial will be on Monday, March 20, at noon at Parksley Cemetery.
