ACCOMACK: Man wounded in drive-by shooting

A man was shot multiple times during an early morning drive-by shooting near the town of Accomac, police say.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Feb. 1 incident, Sheriff Todd Wessells said in a prepared release sent to regional media Feb. 10.

Wessells said at 1:13 a.m. during the day of the shooting, the sheriff’s office received a transfer notification from the Emergency Operations Center regarding a possible gunshot victim.

The shooting happened in the 23000 block of Oyster House Road. The road intersects with Drummontown Road.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, sustained “multiple gunshot wounds,” Wessells reported. 

He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and was listed in stable condition, Wessells said.

His name was not released by the sheriff’s office. 

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department and the Accomack Department of Public Safety.
