Eastern Shore’s boards of supervisors set leadership for 2023

The Accomack County Board of Supervisors at its organizational meeting Wednesday, Jan. 4, elected Robert Crockett as chairman for 2023. 

Crockett was chosen by unanimous vote. 

Harrison Phillips was elected vice chairman, also by unanimous vote. 

The board of supervisors also approved its code of ethics and rules of procedure for 2023. 

The board voted to hold regular monthly meetings the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m., moving the meeting place back to the board chambers in the county administration building in Accomac. 

The board had been meeting in more spacious quarters at the cafeteria of Metompkin Elementary School since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Supervisors also voted to hold work sessions as needed on the first Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. 

In Northampton County, John Coker was voted in as chairman of the board of supervisors. 

Oliver Bennett was selected as vice chairman.
