Ernest E. Dickerson

Mr. Ernest E. Dickerson, 73, of Chester, Pa., formerly of the Shore, departed this life Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pa., after a brief illness.
Born in Accomack County, Ernest was the beloved son of the late Elmer and Gracie Dickerson. He was educated in the Accomack County Public School System until he was drafted into the Army to serve his country in Vietnam on March 11, 1969. After serving his duty in Vietnam, Ernest returned to the States and continued serving as an Army Reservist for many years.
After marrying his high school sweetheart, Terry Northan of Parksley, Ernest moved to Chester. He became employed as a welder with Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company until 1989, when the company closed. Through the years, Ernest worked several other jobs while raising his family but the one that brought him the most joy was working as a bartender at Redavis.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, from Adams U.M. Church Cemetery, Parksley, with the Rev. Milton P. Bunting officiating.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 52 years, Terry Dickerson; four children, Sharon Rico, Ernest Northan, Shakia Northan, and Tykeisha Dickerson; five grandchildren; three sisters, Lula Dickerson, Lincebell Downing, and Caroline White; four brothers, Linwood Dickerson, Roger Dickerson, Walter Dickerson, and Winfred Dickerson; five sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends who will cherish his memory forever.
Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
