Raymond Eugene Brady


Mr. Raymond Eugene Brady, affectionately known as “Buddy” to family and friends, departed this life peacefully on Sept. 12, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.
Buddy was a resident of Nassawadox and was born June 9, 1951, in Oyster, a son to the late Burleigh “Dick” and Julia Anne Brady. He grew up in Northampton County where he spent years working on the Chesapeake Bay alongside his Daddy and other family.
Buddy was a man of God and loved his Lord and Savior. He ministered to many until his health failed him. He enjoyed woodworking and had an art for sculpting boats with a very distinctive design. He also had a love for music and he even wrote his own songs and sang at family funerals.
In his younger years, he played his guitar in a band with his brother, Sonny, called The Rambling Ranch Hands, in which they entertained many folks.
Buddy is survived by his loving daughter, Roseanne Brady, of Nassawadox; two adored grandchildren, Willie and BreAnna Holden; special nieces, Jackie Abraham (Joe), of Capeville, and Tracy Steuer (John), of Eastville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny Brady (Joyce); sister, Sandy Somers (Vernon); great-nephews and great-nieces; and numerous cousins.
At Buddy’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his grandchildrens’ college funds at Roseanne Brady c/o Truist Bank, P.O. Box 605, Exmore, VA 23350.
A memorial service was held from the graveside at Johnson’s Cemetery, Johnsontown, Saturday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m., with Pastor Tommy Kellam officiating.
