Mr. James R. Boggs, 67, of Tasley, departed this life Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Norfolk, he was the beloved son of Margaret Reid Colon. He was reared by his adopted parents, the late Bishop Arthur Ray Boggs and the late Alice May Downing Boggs. “Good Booty,” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. In later years, he gained employment with Accomack County Public Schools as a bus driver. He dedicated 44 years of service until his health began to fail. He also was a lifetime member of the Parksley Volunteer Fire Department. James was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wardtown.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Wardtown, with the Rev. Milton P. Bunting officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memories: four children, Jessica Boggs, James Boggs Jr., Joshalyn Boggs, and Jennifer Boggs; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Reid and Sandra Reid; three brothers, Kalvin Reid, Samuel Boggs, and Baxter Lilliston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
