Accomack Grand Jury Returns Indictments

By Carol Vaughn — A grand jury meeting in Accomack County Monday, June 6, returned indictments against 17 people.

Justin Laferriere, also known as Justin Soeum, 27, of Milford, N.H., was indicted on charges of manslaugher and driving under the influence maiming in connection with a Feb, 8, 2022, crash in which Angela Kellam, of Bloxom, died and Breonte Shrieves, Terrell Northam, and Treyquan Johnson were injured.

Laferriere was driving southbound when he crossed over into the northbound lane of U.S. Route 13 near Accomac, hitting another car head-on, according to testimony given in Accomack County General District Court in May, when the case was certified to the grand jury.

Testimony was the “black box” in his rented Toyota Camry recorded his speed at 93 mph when Laferriere struck the white Chrysler driven by 44-year-old Kellam, killing her instantly.

Laferriere’s blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit when he arrived at the hospital, according to testimony from a doctor.

Tyler Nathaniel Humphries, 26, of Parksley, was indicted on charges of possession of cocaine, burglary, grand larceny, and possession of burglarious tools in connection with a Feb. 25, 2022, incident at the Club Car Cafe, in Parksley.

Bronta Jamar Ames, 25, an inmate in the Accomack County Jail, was indicted on charges of malicious wounding by a mob and acts of violence by a mob in connection with a May 13, 2022, incident.

Timothy John VanHart, 25, an inmate in the Accomack County jail, was indicted on charges of malicious wounding by a mob and acts of violence by a mob, in connection with a May 13, 2022, incident.

Also indicted were:
Jaheim Graham, 19, of Myrtle Beach. S.C., felony eluding law enforcement officer, receiving stolen goods, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possesion of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance in connection with a March 27, 2022, incident.

Nathaniel Antwaun SIngletary, 21, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., felony eluding law enforcement officer, receiving stolen goods, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, in connection with a March 27, 2022, incident.

Jaylon Calvin Harmon, 23, of Belle Haven, malicious bodily injury, abuse and neglect of a child, unlawfully shooting in commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm causing serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, and attempted first degree murder, in connection with a Dec. 3, 2021, incident. Harmon allegedly shot the victim 10 times while holding their child, according to a checklist for bail determination. He is being held without bail.

Lance Carl Jester, 37, of Parksley, abduction, strangulation of another, rape, in connection with a Nov. 29, 2021, incident.

Ceonta Kellam, 31, of Temperanceville, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in connection with a Jan. 1, 2022, incident.

Preston Vanness Townsend, 42, of Horntown, possession of cocaine in connection with a March 8, 2022. incident.

Donnie Failinger, 49, of New Church, unauthorized use of a vehicle in connection with a Nov. 24, 2021, incident.

Phillip Curtis Matthews, 34, of Withams, felony eluding of a law enforcement officer in connection with an April 5, 2022, incident.

Antron Deveek Byrd, 42, of Parksley, embezzlement, in connection with a Nov. 15, 2021, incident.

Victor Antonio Coll, 24, of Newport News, rape and aggravated sexual battery in connection with a Dec. 23, 2020, incident.

Vashod Rykish Reid, 32, of Parksley, felony eluding of a law enforcement officer in connection with a March 25, 2022. incident.

Markeece Obryan Davis, 31, of Bloxom, failure to register as a tier 3 sex offender, four counts.

Frank Nick Piliro Jr., 39, of New Church, failure to register as a tier 3 sex offender, three counts.
