Yellow Jackets Split Victories Against Riverheads High School

The Northampton Yellow Jackets varsity girls soccer team traveled to  Staunton, Va., to face Riverheads High School in the quarterfinals of the VHSL Class 1 girls soccer state tournament Tuesday, June 7. The Yellow Jackets lost 5-0.

“The Northampton girls soccer program did an amazing job this season,” said head coach Ernest Bethel. “I’m very proud of the team. Each game they got better and maintained the mindset of trying their best. The teammates pushed each other and even pushed me to do more for them. I can’t wait for next season.”

The same evening, the Yellow Jackets varsity boys soccer team faced Riverheads in the quarterfinals of the VHSL Class 1 boys soccer state tournament. The Yellow Jackets won 2-1, scoring one goal in each half. The Yellow Jackets play again Friday, June 10, against Auburn High School in the state semifinals.
