Mrs. Frances Hurley Hooker, longtime resident of Waynesboro, Va., passed away Dec. 12, 2021. “Fran” was 92. She was born on the Eastern Shore of Virginia Feb. 7, 1929, a daughter to the late Vyrd and Maude White Hurley, of Leemont.

Frances had a secretarial degree and worked in numerous full-time and part-time positions in Chincoteague, Philadelphia, and Waynesboro.

Frances was married to Andrew Allen Hooker (deceased), of Engelhard, N.C. Andrew worked as an engineer for DuPont in Waynesboro.

Fran was an avid golfer and extremely proud of her hole-in-one. Between bridge club, crafting, and accompanying her daughters to horse shows, she was always busy. Fran was a very wonderful and devoted grandmother later in life.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Lynn Spurgin and Pamela Diann Hench, and grandchildren, Patrick Spurgin, Michael Spurgin, Cooper Hench, and Ryan Hench. She will be buried next to Andrew in Engelhard.
