Mr. Brian Sutton, 50, of Accokeek, Md., formerly of the Shore, peacefully made his transition to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Makemie Park, Brian was the second youngest of six children to Freddie Sutton Jr. and Janice E. Sutton. He was affectionately known as “Joe” by his family and friends. He was educated in the Accomack County Public School system and graduated in 1989 from Arcadia High School in Oak Hall.

Although Brian worked many jobs, in January 2015, he was proud to start his career at the Department of the Army Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Director of Emergency Services as a Department of the Army Civilian Security Guard. He furthered his education at the Department of the Army Civilian Police Officer Academy, graduating in June 2016 and becoming a civilian police officer. In August 2019, he became a public safety dispatcher, and he served faithfully until his death.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Nandua High School in Onley, with the Rev. Carroll Mills officiating. Interment was in the Groton Community Cemetery in Temperanceville.

Brian leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Freddie Sutton Jr. and Janice Elizabeth Sutton; one daughter, Janiece Tyler; four brothers, Rodney Sutton, Marty Sutton, Keith Sutton, and Steven Norman; two sisters, Teresha Sutton and Valerie Sutton; three nephews; three nieces; special friend and nurse, Latoya; life-long friends and buddies, Katrina, Brenda, Kim, and Roy; his adopted brothers, sisters, and extended family from the Eastern Shore; and a host of cousins, great nieces, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
